OFSTED Report for WoodkirkOur latest Ofsted inspection (January 2005) rated the school as having "a very good ethos which is based on the premise that students should not only obtain high academic standards but should develop as responsible young adults who are polite, courteous and respectful to others. In this respect the school is very successful."
OFSTED judged the school as providing a good quality of education and very good value for money. Standards are much higher and achievement is better as a result of significant improvements in teaching and learning. Most of the weaknesses identified in the previous report have been addressed successfully and many are now strengths of the school.
"Many pupils show interest and enthusiasm in exercising
initiative and taking responsibility. In the Sixth Form there are many
opportunities for pupils to take on such duties and they respond very
positively." "Pupils' attainment in National Curriculum tests has risen over the last four years to a level noticeably above average." Leadership of the school is very good, driving up standards since the last inspection. Inspectors were particularly complimentary about the very good behaviour of the students and ethos of the school, which promotes hard work, very good attitudes and equality for all. The enrichment of the curriculum and extra curricular activities were also recognised as very good features of the school. |
