School CouncilYoung people's health is attracting a great deal of attention at the moment. Unfortunately this is often bad news. At Woodkirk we want to do as much as we can to support children in developing healthy lifestyles. Apart from all the obvious benefits of a healthy active life research shows poor diet and lack of physical activity are linked to low academic performance and behavioural problems.
Healthy Eating:Pupils have been able to give us their ideas through the School's Council. We hope you will be able to support our Healthy School Initiative as follows:
We offer a range of evening activities and classes to the local community. They are held in school, with Joseph Priestley College providing the staff for most of them. If you would like to give one a try, enrol by contacting Joseph Priestley College on 0113 307 6000. Some of the courses, especially Spanish, fill up very quickly. For the Health and Fitness sessions simply turn up at school any Monday evening from the second week of term. There is no charge for the Health and Fitness classes. There are fees for the other classes but they are free for 16‑18 year olds and the unwaged. |
