Choirs and Bands at Woodkirk have participated in, and on many occasions won, competitions and musical events in the last few years. This has given our students the chance to perform at important and exciting venues, ranging from the local Morley Town Hall, Woodkirk Church and Oakwell Hall to national events such as Leeds Town Hall and the London Festival Hall.
Choirs and Bands, such as the Upper School Choir and the Swing Band, are always in great demand to play at social events. These include Weddings, Society Events such as the Priestley Society annual lectures, and concerts such as the Music for Youth Festival.
The Soul Band continues to go from strength to strength featuring some truly talented music students mainly from the sixth form but the band is open to anyone at the school. They play both in and out of school at local venues and at school performances.
We work very closely with music departments from Primary cluster schools. This has recently involved a singing competition to create a combined choir of over 100 voices.
Music is an important asset to Woodkirk High School and we always welcomes new performers.
