Music, Choirs and Bands at Woodkirk

Woodkirk has a thriving music community with several successful bands including the Swing Band, Wind Band, Orchestra, Show Band, Upper and Lower school Choir, String Group, Soul Band and more...

Woodkirk is extremely privileged to have such a thriving, popular and successful music department that regularly plays both in this country and abroad. Music Residentials have included trips to:

• France
• Italy
• Ireland
• Austria
• Belgium

Choirs and Bands at Woodkirk have participated in, and on many occasions won, competitions and musical events in the last few years. This has given Woodkirk children the chance to perform at important and exciting venues, ranging from the Local Morley Town Hall, Woodkirk Church and Oakwell Hall to national events such as Leeds Town Hall and the London Festival Hall.

Choirs and Bands, such as the Upper School Choir and the Swing Band, are always in great demand to play at social events. These include Weddings, Society Events such as the Priestley Society annual lectures, and concerts such as the Music for Youth Festival.

The Soul Band continues to go from strength to strength featuring some truly talented music students mainly from the sixth form but the band is open to anyone at the school. The soul band plays both in and out of school at local venues and at school performances.
